Fort Mill Design + Co was born from a simple belief: homes should feel like the people who live in them.
After 20 years in the design industry—I saw the same pattern over and over again. Beautiful homes were being created, but many of them felt cautious. Neutral. Designed for “resale” instead of real life.
I wanted something different.
I created Fort Mill Design + Co to help homeowners build spaces that feel alive—homes filled with color, personality, and meaning. Spaces that reflect you, not a trend. Whether you're home is full of sticky toddler fingers, large puppy paws, or quiet reading corners —your home, your personal space, should be a reflection of you.
My background allows me to design from the inside out. I don’t just choose pillows and paint colors (though those are everything for making a space feel complete and cohesive)—I design floor plans, create construction drawings, curate materials, and carry a project from the first sketch to the final layer of styling.
But what truly sets my work apart is philosophy.
I believe your home should tell your story. It should make you feel seen. It should bring you joy when you walk through the door. That means giving yourself permission to be bold—to choose the color, the pattern, the piece that feels like you.

Meet Amy
Owner | Lead Designer
Amy Kachin is the heart behind Fort Mill Design + Co. She’s married, a mom of three, and a lifelong lover of all things home. Growing up, she was constantly rearranging her bedroom, painting walls, and even ripping up carpet (God bless her parents). Design has always been in her DNA.
She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from Winthrop University and holds her AKBD certification from the National Kitchen & Bath Association.
When she’s not designing, you’ll find her antiquing, painting, cross-stitching, watching birds, traveling to new countries, or learning her way around a golf course —cold brew coffee always in hand. She believes beauty is found in both bold spaces and quiet moments—and brings that same heart into every home she designs.
